News flash #1: Ontario (Canada) Legion branch shut down after KKK Halloween costume debacle. Closing of Campbellford branch upsets legion members and man whose complaint prompted the investigation

This was the Halloween costume party, held at the legion, where attendees, one dressed as a KKK guy and another in black face won best costume prize. Bad taste was victorious and it caused outrage across Canada. This prompted an apology:

News flash #2: Eddie Bauer
Bad taste is still in season. Retailer Eddie Bauer is having a sale on the occsion of Remembrance Day: “Veterans Day Sale Up to 60% off prices starting at $9.99 Hurry ends Nov. 11 shop sale mens> women>” (Source: www.eddiebauer.com). Some believe that this trivializes the day. I agree.

1942 – World War II: French resistance coup in Algiers, in which 400 civilian French patriots neutralize Vichyist XIXth Army Corps after 15 hours of fighting, and arrest several Vichyst generals, allowing the immediate success of Operation Torch in Algiers.
1987 – Remembrance Day Bombing: A Provisional IRA bomb explodes in Enniskillen, Northern Ireland during a ceremony honouring those who had died in wars involving British forces. Twelve people are killed and sixty-three wounded.
1952 – Birth – Christie Hefner, CEO of Playboy Enterprises
1979 – Death -Yvonne de Gaulle, wife of Charles de Gaulle (b. 1900)
